The Arabic-speaking colleague with whom I teach this class and I both agree that this third edition is a huge improvement over the second edition we were using previously. Its website component is excellent (although the interface could use a bit of tweaking - still, for a relatively new website, it's very good). This is one of the best texts out there (together with its companion text Alif Baa for the alphabet and sounds) for beginning classes in contexts like ours, where students have little exposure to Arabic outside the classroom.
I have taught with the book.
